5 Reasons the Muslim Brotherhood Won’t Destroy Israel – Debunked

Mar 05 2011 Published by under 2010 Elections

The Muslim Brotherhood isn’t so bad, and couldn’t lead Egypt against Israel even if they wanted to.  Sound crazy?  I agree, but that is what the Left is trying to argue.  And their latest attempt comes from a Muslim teacher seen as a Middle East expert by our mainstream media. We have to have the facts to debunk the pro-Brotherhood propaganda that grows each day. Haroon Moghul recently wrote an article for Religion Dispatches Magazine called “5 Reasons the Muslim Brotherhood Won’t Turn on Israel” .  Moghul also writes for The Huffington Post and has been interviewed as a Middle East expert by CNN, NPR, the New Yorker , Time , and The History Channel.  The young Muslim professor is also known for his sermons held online by NYU’s Islamic center, and supposedly has a large international following. I’m not sure if Moghul is merely a fool or attempting to push propaganda with his pro-Brotherhood article.  I sense it is some mixture of both.  He is highly educated, so he must know what is truly happening in the Middle East, but he ignores the truth either because he hopes for the best or supports the worst. Regardless of Moghul’s real intentions, his five reasons the MB won’t turn against Israel are presented here.  Under each reason (which I have given my own titles), I provide a quote from Moghul’s short article.  After each quote I completely debunk his arguments. First up: The Muslim Brotherhood loves a thriving tourism industry?

AZ Muslim Dad Found Guilty of Honor Killing Daughter and MSM is Quiet

Feb 25 2011 Published by under 2010 Elections

I am a dad of two daughters. I would die for them. I would harm others who tried to hurt them. I would never consider killing my girls for any reason. The same can not be said for an Arizona Muslim named Faleh Almaleki. The Iraqi native came from a land of Sharia and brought his perverted sense of justice with him. Now he will be facing American justice, but Almaleki’s story will not be facing major media coverage. Those who care about the spread of radical Islam have paid attention to the sad events in Arizona. Our own Jamie Glazov covered the story well last month. In October of 2009 Faleh Almaleki ran over his teenage daughter with his SUV because she was being too western.  He wanted his daughter Noor to marry an Iraqi man. He murdered his daughter, fled, was caught, has been tried, and has now been convicted of second degree murder. Have you noticed this case on television much?  Nope.  It has largely been ignored by the mainstream media. Glazov called it their “shameful silence.”  Those covering the sick father’s conviction have buried the story and kept their comments short and scrubbed of religious references.  Below is an example from the Associated Press. Again, the media has either completely ignored this story, or only gave it a brief mention. Many who did give this case a glance, were somehow able to avoid using words like “Muslim,” “Sharia” or “Islam.”  I’m not quite sure how you report on a Sharia-style honor killing without bringing up those words even once.  Look at how one of the ‘journalists’ from Huffington Post described honor killings: His crime has been characterized by local police as an honor killing — the murder of a woman for “shaming” her family. The chilling practice has deep roots in some tribal traditions of the Middle East and South Asia. – Abigail Pesta, Huffington Post So, honor killings have no connection to Islam or Sharia? Right. It’s just a tribal thing with no connection whatsoever. Nice try HP.  MSNBC fares no better. They also refuse to use any of those pesky words like “Muslim” or “Sharia.”  In fact they only mentioned that the prosecutors claimed this was an “honor killing.” Similar coverage is found with NPR , USA Today , the Washington Post , and BBC News . CNN barely gave the story a few paragraphs and buried it in the “justice” section of their website.  They didn’t use any of those Muslim buzz words we’ve mentioned either. And CBS gave the story the same treatment and manages to end their story with: Noor Almaleki’s story set off a firestorm of “honor killing” outrage at the time and raised awareness of the rare practice within the United States. – CBS So CBS believes the story has nothing to do with Islam, and people shouldn’t be outraged since this never happens. Of course they fail to mention that another Muslim man was convicted just this month in New York for killing his children. The only MSM media I could find that at least referenced Islam or the dad being Muslim were a Reuters report which didn’t say much and then only two others who did a good job. ABC News, surprisingly, was one of the them who not only mentioned Islam but talked abou t how the Muslim man’s religious beliefs may have led to his disturbing actions. They gave the story two pages and a news video report to the story. The New York Daily News, not as surprisingly, also did solid work on the story. I have yet to see the story even acknowledged by the New York Times , Time, Newsweek, and most of the major Leftist blogs like Alternet and Mother Jones .  Their silence is indeed shameful. Cases like the one in Arizona need to get major coverage by our media outlets.  People need to know that with the spread of Sharia comes the abuse and even killings of Muslim women.  Moreover, our mainstream media must not ignore the links honor killings have with Islam.  Obviously most Muslims do not commit honor killings.  Does our media feel Americans are too ignorant to get that? Every article that made no mention of Islam in this story merely proved the author was not a journalist.  We at NewsReal are dedicated to continue covering these stories that others are purposefully ignoring. You need to know the truth.

Egyptian Gays and the Muslim Brotherhood: There’s No Gold at the End of this Rainbow

Feb 19 2011 Published by under 2010 Elections

Originally published on February 16, 2011 . Homosexuality in the Muslim world is a death sentence. Keli Goff discussed gays in Egypt in her latest column for the Huffington Post .  You see, it’s Fashion Week, and last year, gay male models and make-up artists in the Muslim world were arrested for wearing and doing make-up in the Sudan. Men who wear nightgowns as day-wear really have a problem with men who wear make-up at night. Goff writes: while Egypt does not have an anti-sodomy law on the books like many of the countries on the list do, other laws have been used to target and arrest gays and lesbians there. For instance, the country has laws against so-called debauchery, and violating religious teachings which Human Rights Watch points out was used to arrest 52 gay men at a club in 2001.  Dubbed ‘The Cairo 52,’ despite the pleas of international humanitarian organizations 23 of the men were sentenced to hard labor.  In 2004 an Egyptian college student was sentenced to seventeen years of hard labor as well, for posting a profile on a gay dating site. Targeting gays and lesbians who attempt to connect online has become increasingly popular among Egyptian authorities in recent years. Although Goff is outraged over Middle Eastern homosexual abuse, she never once explains why homosexual brutalization is allowed in the Muslim world— Islam’s Koran, Hadith, Sharia Law, and Mohammad’s own words, demand homosexual executions. Simply reporting Islamic abuse of homosexuals ignores the underlying facts— Islam is a violent movement that adheres to aggressive laws.  Without revealing Islam’s true belief system , the Western World is kept blind to a political movement intent on world takeover through violence.  Murdering homosexuals is part of that plan.  Goff’s column for the leftist Huffington Post should have exposed the true Islam . Goff goes on to say: While I hate to be a ‘Debbie Downer,’ it must be said that amid the worldwide jubilation that greeted the news of Hosni Mubarak’s retirement from his chosen profession of dictator, not all are celebrating. A big question mark remains regarding what this new era in Egypt will mean for gays and lesbians. There have been fears expressed among some in the LGBT community that the influence of groups like the Muslim Brotherhood demonstrated during the country’s recent protests, could signal a new era of oppression. (Although if you can get sentenced to prison for posting a personals ad online, I guess it’s worth asking how much worse can things get?) The organization’s emphasis on combining religious ideology with policy should give all supporters of LGBT and women’s rights pause, and apparently already is. Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has cautioned world leaders about the group, in part for this very reason. I too hate to be a Debbie Downer, but, Goff only described brutalities against homosexuals in the Middle East, focusing half the column on how frightening Fashion Week has become for Middle Eastern gay male models–wearing eye shadow and leather pants will get you killed.  Though Goff pointed out the possibility of life becoming more deadly for Egyptian gays if the Muslim Brotherhood seizes power, she neglected to inform her fellow lefties that Islamic law disavows human and civil rights to women and homosexuals. Let’s start facing facts and admitting the truth.  It’s not just Middle Eastern homosexuals who should fear the Muslim Brotherhood, but Americans as well.   The Brotherhood is in America and it wants to plant Sharia Law here . Goff should have put down the leftist political correctness toward Islam and warned Americans what will happen if we allow Islam’s Sharia Law into our Constitution, as the UK has done—more honor killings.  That includes murdering homosexuals.

Repeating Early Praise for the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979,The New York Times Extols The Muslim Brotherhood As A “Mainstream,” “Venerable”…

Feb 14 2011 Published by under 2010 Elections

In 1979, as the  Ayatollah Khomeini was seizing power in Iran and turning a largely peaceful secular revolution into a brutal Islamic theocracy, the New York Times ran an op-ed column entitled “Trusting Khomeini.” The column argued that Khomeini  was being depicted unfairly as an anti-Semitic theocratic reactionary when instead, Iran may yet provide us with a desperately-needed model of humane governance for a third-world country We all know how that turned out. Last Sunday, the New York Times ran a “news analysis” on its front page, a primary message  of which was that Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood can be trusted because it “has long disavowed its violent past” and “has de-emphasized the mainstays of Islamic activism.” They are a “counterexample” to Hamas , the Times writer tells us, forgetting that the Muslim Brotherhood created Hamas. Moreover, what happened in Iran, we are assured, could not possibly happen in Egypt. According to the Times article, the Muslim Brotherhood is nothing like the radical Islamists who seized power in Iran. Rather, the Muslim Brotherhood is: a mainstream group that stands as the most venerable of the Arab world’s Islamic movements The lame stream media refuses to take the time to examine what the so-called “mainstream” Muslim Brotherhood actually believes, as expressed by its own leaders when they are not trying to fool the Egyptian public and the West into thinking they are a democracy-loving moderate organization. I have written extensively about this, with quotes from these leaders , which I won’t bother to repeat here. However, to dispel any lingering doubt that if the Muslim Brotherhood gets into power – either directly or through stooge “independents” loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood such as the apologist for Iran’s nuclear program, Mohamed ElBaradei  – we won’t see a strong tilt towards the Iranian Islamic theocratic model of government, I am quoting here from an interview with Kamal Al-Hilbawi, former speaker of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, which aired on Al-Alam TV (Iran) on February 7, 2011 ( as translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute ): The only foreign intervention in this revolution is that of Israel. They destroyed the gas pipeline, so that the revolutionaries would be accused of using explosives. No one would accept a destructive Iranian role in Egypt, or elsewhere. We think highly of a country whose president is important, courageous, and has a vision, which he presents in the UN, in Geneva, and everywhere. We think highly of a country that has a wise government, a country that confronts Western hegemony, and is scientifically and technologically advanced. Unfortunately, these characteristics can be found only in the Islamic Republic of Iran And then there is the senior member of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, Kamal al-Halbavi, who said he hoped Egypt would have a good government, like the Iranian government, and a good president like Mr. Ahmadinejad, who is very brave Let’s hope that sanity will prevail and that there are enough secularists with strong convictions, backed up by an army that does not want to see an Iranian-style government, who will prevent the Muslim Brotherhood from taking power. However, even if the Muslim Brotherhood gets their wish and creates their version of “a good government, like the Iranian government,” the New York Times and other members of the lame stream media will simply proceed on to the next revolution and praise their radicals as sincere, peace loving  believers in the rights of  all the “people.” Joseph Klein is the author of a recent book entitled Lethal Engagement: Barack Hussein Obama, the United Nations and Radical Islam .

What Can We Learn from the Iranian Revolutionary View of the Situation in Egypt?

Feb 07 2011 Published by under 2010 Elections

Over the last hundred years there have been similar situations when longtime, seemingly entrenched regimes were set upon by a myriad of disparate forces focused on immediate change. What can we expect to emerge in Cairo after Mubarak’s fall in light of historical patterns? Analysis of the chaos in Egypt since January has consumed much of the talking head time on American television and yet almost none of these pundits has properly discussed the context of this process compared to the great revolutions of the twentieth century. How are these events similar to the Russian Revolution? How is the flow of these events mimicking the history of the ouster of the Shah? One of the key leaders of the Iranian Revolution was Ali Khamenei and he was a close comrade of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Khamenei has led Iran as the Supreme Leader since June 1989 and to date is the only person to hold this post other than Khomeini. In the Iranian government structure he is senior to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. On February 4, 2011 Ayatollah Khamenei gave a sermon on the situation in Egypt and there is much we can learn from his remarks. Khamenei states that “The awakening of the Muslim Egyptian people is an Islamic liberation movement.” He calls for the Islamic forces in Egypt to learn from what happened in Iran: “We believe that the following experience could be beneficial to the current circumstances: First, the awakening of the peoples is, in fact, a war between two wills — the will of the people and the will of its enemies. Second, the enemy tries to sow despair about achieving your goals. Third, the enemy sends his well-equipped security forces against you in order to spread terror and chaos among the people. Do not fear them. You are stronger than those mercenaries.” In his review of the situation Khamenei sees a populist struggle and at the same time blasts Mubarak and Anwar Sadat for their relationship with Israel and the U.S.: “The great chasm between the Egyptian state and people has been revealed, a chasm formed following the Treaty of Shame of Camp David. The Egyptian people sacrificed their lives to help the Palestinians in 1967 and 1973, only to see, with their very eyes, their leaders hastening down the path of collaboration with and obedience to the U.S., to the point of turning Egypt into a loyal ally of the plundering Zionist enemy.” Let’s just pause for a moment and set one thing straight. The truth is Egypt’s repeated attempts to drive Israel into the sea had little if anything to with the Palestinian Arabs. In reality it was comprised of one part pan-Arab nationalism and one part good old-fashioned anti-Semitism. Now back to Khamenei. He warns of a possible Egyptian civil war, stating: “The Egyptian army, which bears on its chest decorations from at least two wars with the Zionist enemy, is facing a great historic test today. The enemy wants to spur this army to oppress the masses. If this happens, God forbid, it would constitute an unbridgeable breach in the ranks of this proud army. The Zionist enemy, not the Egyptian people, should tremble in fear of the Egyptian army. There is no doubt that the members of the Egyptian army, which is part of the Egyptian people, will join the masses, Allah willing. Then this sweet experience will repeat itself in Egypt.” So there is the question: What will eventually happen after the “masses” are successful in driving Mubarak out? There should be little doubt that a Western-style liberal democracy will be just about the last thing that will materialize in Egypt. The actors (both foreign and domestic) who have orchestrated this all from the start are “in it to win it” in a way that the other participants simply cannot fathom. Hamas, elements of the Muslim Brotherhood and other Iranian surrogates acting in Iran are behind the dusting off of the same playbook used by Ayatollah Khomeini and before him by the Bolsheviks. The Islamists will use the other forces that are dedicated to the downfall of the government to make sure that regime change happens. After the revolution they will utilize the ensuing chaos to brutally purge these former allies from their midst. In the end these Iranian protégées will be the last intact faction left standing with the strength and the will to lead. This is what happened in both Russian and Iran. Ken Pollack is the director of the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution and seems to understand this aspect of the events in Egypt. The February 3 “Meet the Press at Brookings” program featuring Pollack was broadcast on C-Span. Pollack had this to say about Egypt: “Revolutions are inherently unstable and unpredictable situations. Mohamed ElBaradei might be the leader that Egypt needs to transition to democracy, but, you know, there are a lot of historical examples that ought to make us very cautious. Alexander Kerensky, Mefty Bozergan — there have been lots of kind of good, moderate liberals who inserted into a revolutionary situation who were swept away. And one of the things we ought to think about when we think about both the Brotherhood and the situation of the opposition today is the Muslim Brotherhood — they’re the Mensheviks of the Egyptian revolution. The Bolsheviks of the Egyptian revolution are sitting in caves in Pakistan, and I think that Ayman al-Zawahiri, and Egyptian Islamic Jihad, which is a critical element of al-Qaeda, are probably right now, if they haven’t already done so, thinking this is our moment, this the revolution we have been trying to create for 30 years in Egypt, and my guess is that like Lenin through that sealed train through Germany in World War I, they are trying as hard as they can to get their people back to Egypt to stir up the situation, to seize this revolution from the moderates himself.” (See the entire transcript here .) Think about what the Ayatollah said. Think about what Pollack said. And think about the foolish American pundits and politicians that are happy about the prospect of the end of Mubarak’s reign. How can anyone who claims to be a patriot or a conservative be pleased to see Mubarak go if the end result is the creation of another sturdy spoke of the Axis of Evil–the creation of another enemy of the United States?

Apologists for Islam?

Jan 15 2011 Published by under 2010 Elections

This popular post was first published on Dec. 4, 2011. Google these two words — catholic islam — and the #1 search result is a page from AmericanCatholic.org entitled “ Islam: What Catholics Should Know .” Instead of telling readers what reasonable Catholics (like the Pope?) understand to be true — that Islam is a violent political system married to a religion – the site paints quite a rosy  picture . AmericanCatholic.org seems to be more “lip-service Muslim” than Catholic in its exposition of Islam . I’ll demonstrate that fact. In order to see how far off base AmericanCatholic.org is, it is helpful to first look at other top Catholic sites. Many of them address Islam only superficially and with what seems to be a mind toward convincing individual Muslims of shared beliefs, very likely in the hope that they might be converted to Christianity. The #1 Catholic site in America, EWTN , covers Islam along those lines. Included in their online articles is a story explaining the importance of the Virgin Mary to “Mahomet” (Mohammed). There are some unfortunate pieces, like a claim by Fr. Mitch Pacwa that Muslim riots in response to cartoons of Mohammed were actually incited by governments , but there is nothing to suggest that there is a concerted effort to promote Islam at EWTN . National Catholic Register ( NCR ) is nearly silent about Islam with the exception of reports on Pope Benedict XVI when he makes news on the matter. A recent article , for instance, included a quote from the Pope which expresses his understanding that Islam rejects reason , that individual Christians on the ground are going to have to try to reason with individual Muslims who are willing to do so, and that we need to explain that Christianity is non-violent if there is going to be any hope for Christians in Muslim majority countries. If you pay attention to the Vatican ‘s public statements on Islam as I do, you would understand that this is the basic game plan , but it is not expounded upon at all by NCR . True theology uses the essential tool of intelligence, combined with prayer and a sense of Church communion, [the Pope] said. The Pope said God’s love also dictates how to approach relations with others who believe in one God; Christians know they must love those whom God loves. What the Pope says above is the plan for Catholics in Muslim-majority countries. After all, what else is there for us to do?  The use of reason by individuals in “ daily life “, with the Vatican making continual calls for religious freedom, is what we are about these days. NCR generally merely reports his words without any commentary on that game plan, but again, there is clearly no agenda there to promote Islam. Catholic.org (Catholic Online) covers Muslim violence fairly extensively, including coverage of Asia Bibi’s death sentence for blasphemy and a story about the Islamization of Europe which includes information on Geert Wilders with a photo . In like manner, Catholic Exchange offers such information as a reasoned debate on “moderate Islam” and the shocking news , at least to Catholics, that “the Qur’anic account leaves out Mary’s freely given consent” to be the mother of Jesus. At AmericanCatholic.org , however, the message about Islam is decidedly different. Here are some quotes from two pages on Islam , complete with my translations which I’m sure regular NRB readers will find easy to understand: Islam has been unjustly portrayed as a religion that fosters violent and extremist behavior. ( The Real Islam ) Translation: Everyone who calls Islam what it really is — as Pope Benedict did — must be an Islamophobe .

10 Suggestions For Katie Couric’s New Muslim Family TV Show

Jan 07 2011 Published by under 2010 Elections

CBS News Anchor Katie Couric denounced what she perceives as  anti-Muslim bigotry in this country and suggested a Muslim version of “The Cosby Show” to counteract it . This new show, in Couric’s mind, could enhance the image of Muslim-Americans much as the “Cosby Show” did for African-Americans. Apparently, the trigger for Couric was the intense opposition to the building of the $100 million, 15 story Islamic mega mosque and community center complex so near Ground Zero. Frankly, however, I don’t think that any mushy, feel-good TV sitcom featuring Muslims will help the survivors of 9/11 or the families and friends of those who perished that day get over what happened that day.  I don’t think it will make them stop believing it is just a wee bit insensitive to build anIslamic tower so close to the World Trade Center Towers where nearly 3000 innocent people were slaughtered by radical Muslims. How about some reality TV instead that can showcase the truth about radical Islam? Just a thought, but in case Couric is willing to come out of her politically correct, left-minded media bubble, here are ten ideas for her to consider in no particular order: 1. “American Jihad” 2. “Dancing With The Suicide Bombers” 3. “America’s Got Talented Jihadists” 4. “The Big Bomb Theory” 5. “Osama’s Anatomy” 6. “Flee” 7. “The Real Housewives of Mecca and Medina” 8. “The Good Wahhabist” 9. “Sharia Law and Order” 10.  ”Medieval Family” Better yet, Katie, why don’t you just move over to MSNBC or Al-Jazeera where you will feel more comfortable? I’m sure they would be happy for you to develop your idea for a new show that would appeal to their audiences. Joseph Klein is the author of a recent book entitled Lethal Engagement: Barack Hussein Obama, the United Nations and Radical Islam .
