Our soldiers die for them and they kill Christian converts. Celebrating Veteran’s Day is an important reminder that our soldiers die for our freedom and often the freedoms of others.  So how should we respond when a country we have set free from tyranny is murdering their people that leave Islam for Christianity?  That has been happening in Afghanistan and may happen again after a judgment today in an Afghani court. Sayed Mossa , an Afghan convert from Islam to Christianity, has been scheduled to stand trial today and most likely will be sentenced to death.  His trial for apostasy will probably be televised in the war-torn country, and it appears Mossa may not even have adequate representation.  Every lawyer, all Muslims, that has been appointed by the courts to represent Mossa have refused.  They dare not defend someone who converted to Christianity. Mossa is a 45 year old, married, father of six children.  His youngest is 8 and he has one disabled child.  Mossa is an amputee and has spent 15 years of his life helping others with the International Red Cross.  However a co-worker turned Mossa in for being a Christian convert – a crime in most Muslim nations practicing Sharia law . In October Mossa gave a letter to a Western visitor so others may hear his story.   Mossa said he has been imprisoned since May “due to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, saviour of the world.”  He went on to describe much of what he has gone through while in prison. “They did sexual things with me, beat me by wood, by hands, by legs, mocked me (“he’s Jesus Christ”), [spit] on me. No body let me for sleep night and day.” – Mossa The government appears to have been promoting such ill treatment.  Many outside observers wonder how the courts could condemn Mossa considering some of the country’s commitments in UN statements and their own Constitution.  The Karzai government is a signatory of the UN Declaration on Human Rights.  That document calls for freedom of religion and equal access to “a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal.” It also states that “no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.” Afghanistan enacted their Constitution in 2003 with the help of the United States.  The document declares in Article 2: “Followers of other religions are free to exercise their faith and perform their religious rites within the limits of the provisions of law.” So what has been the response of the American government?  When you consider the amount of lives lost and billions spent, we must demand more from the Afghanis.  One Westerner in Kabul put it perfectly: “The U.S. government has been actively engaged in Afghanistan since 2001, spending billions of dollars, exerting millions of hours of manpower, and losing precious American lives in order to ensure that the Afghan people enjoy these basic human rights. If one cannot enjoy these rights, none can enjoy them.” Representatives of the U.S. embassy have visited Mossa in prison and confirmed he has been tortured.  Thankfully they were able to convince the Afghanistan courts by letter to move Mossa to a new prison and away from other prisoners.  But the diplomatic pressure has yet to get Mossa released and much of that pressure has been done by low level folks. Many believe only President Karzai could get Mossa released, but somehow I think it will take more than letters from embassy workers to make that happen.  A call from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or the President may do wonders.  Even Mossa understands that.  In the letter he sent out he started it: “To the international church of the world and to the President Brother [Barack] Obama and to the heads of ISAF force in Afghanistan.” – Mossa Christians were told by Christ they would suffer ( John 16:33 ).  However, with a little bit of high level pressure, this brave former Muslim may not have to suffer to the point of death.  I pray that our President who found the time to ask a Florida pastor to not burn Korans will take the time to ask Karzai to let Mossa live. ______________________________ Paul Cooper is a husband and father above all else.  With a wife and 2 daughters he could use a dog, but sadly he only owns a cat – a female cat no less.  Paul is also a pastor, blogger , and business owner .  Find him on Twitter .

Pat Buchanan Offends Anti-American Islam-Loving Libertarians

Pat Buchanan has offended anti-American libertarians who think Islam is gentle. Buchanan said the Ground Zero mosque is a development planned by a man with the “religious motivation of the Saudis who attacked the towers” and should not be built.  This has Fred Reed of LewRockwell.com infuriated: America is not at war with Islam, prior to 9/11 America never considered Islam violent and by no means would alleged Muslims attack America. Reed blames America for Islamic violence — America is the bloodthirsty beast that created Muslim monsters and was never attacked by Islam. If America is not at war with Islam, who are the maniacs screaming Allahu akbar every time Americans are attacked here and overseas? The 9/11 attacks were not committed by Mazel Tov -screaming Jews. Other than  radical leftist terrorist groups who always support Islam, attacks around the world are carried out by Muslim terrorists following world-conquering Islamic sharia law . Reed’s radical libertarian view denounces Buchanan as a “yahoo,” insisting Americans are Christian brutes attacking Muslims : Buchanan, of the American Conservative , [is] proclaiming that Islam is a Culture of Jihad, and most militant…Would it be poltroonish of me to note that just now Christian armies are busily annexing and wrecking Afghanistan and Iraq, having recently bombed Somalia?  That they use robotic aircraft to murder Yemenis, that they hunt down Moslems in the Philippines (where after 1898 Americans engaged in atrocities that would win the admiration of the Japanese), encourage Israel to ruin Lebanon and to run a concentration camp for Moslems in Gaza, enthusiastically murder Pakistanis from the sky, and threaten Syria and Iran? Leftist anti-American ideology indicts America as the controlling world conqueror and Islam as misunderstood because “not one Islamic nation is in the First World.” That’s because Muslims are too busy forcefully amalgamating the First World to their culture. Note to Reed, Buchanan consistently says he is against the Iraq war .  His magazine recently stated : “If we’re honest, since day one, the War on Terror has actually been a war for it.”  Buchanan shares similar views of war— avoid unless attacked , Saddam was never a threat and America should not aid Israel . But it is Buchanan’s pro-West Christian statements against Islam that anger Reed.

Let’s All Wear “I Am a Muslim” Pins to Protest “Islamophobia”

So many educated people are afflicted by the equivalent of a blank stare where genuine thought should exist. It’s as if they’re sleepwalkers, oblivious to reality, or under plexiglass, where they can’t hear anything with which they don’t already agree. Here’s a case in point. A woman who identifies herself as a professor at a Chicago university (it’s Northeastern Illinois) publishes this touching note in the New York (Muslim) Times today . Gail Dreyfuss describes an “encounter” she had with a student who was wearing both hijab (a headscarf) and a pin which read “I am a Muslim.” I guess the student did not want anyone mistaking her for … a Buddhist or a Jew; perhaps the student did not think that westerners know that a wearing a tight “headscarf which framed her face” meant she was a Muslim. Dreyfuss, a professor of Linguistics, asked her student if she had a “spare pin.” The student took off her own.  The professor “wore it all day and received only positive reactions from students and staff members.” And that’s when she came up with her Great Idea. Dreyfuss writes: “It occurred to me that non-Muslim women might like to wear headscarves in solidarity with our Muslim sisters.… This might be one way to show them that we’re all in this together.” Is Dreyfuss serious? Does she believe that Muslims are under the kind of siege that Jews were under during the Nazi regime and which prompted Danes to all wear the yellow star as a way of hiding endangered Danish Jews from Jew-hunters? Clearly, she does. Dreyfuss has drunk the kool-aid and believes that “ Islamophobia ” really exists in America. This is not surprising since, for a long time now, but more and more intensely, the mainstream media has launched an all-out campaign to persuade people of this.

Can the Cant: 9-11 Was Always Already Politicized

From the pages of the Washington Times comes an article filled with hand wringing over the GZ Mosque and Qur-B-Que controversies, quoting various people lamenting the politicization of 9-11. 9-11 has always been political, though. Oh, yes, the reasons for the wanton massacre of thousands in the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and on various commercial airliners have mutated depending on the exigencies of the moment. I seem to recall that it was once outrage over the US military presence in Saudi Arabia, the breeding ground of the Wahabbist death cult . Mind you, the whole nation is “sacred,” but we mustn’t insist on moving a mosque from two blocks from Ground Zero. Mecca is so sacred that no non-Muslim must set foot there, and Medina is sacred. Jerusalem is so sacred to Muslims that any relics of prior Jewish settlement ought to be extirpated, in a slow-motion version of the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas. Cordoba’s cathedral ought to be opened to Muslim worship, because at one time, in contravention of an agreement with Cordoba’s Christians , Muslims worshipped there before suffering a series of territorial reverses. Bethlehem is largely devoid of Christians, and the few remaining Jews in numerous Muslim territories are leaving due to oppression. So, when I hear this sort of thing , I wonder: New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan spoke out Friday against Saturday’s planned New York protests, saying Sept. 11 “has become a holy day in our community and our nation.” “We must never allow Sept. 11th to become a time for protest and division,” he added. “Instead, this day must remain a time for promoting peace and mutual respect.” Where is the mutuality? At Gettysburg, Lincoln, without benefit of teleprompter, said this: But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate — we can not consecrate — we can not hallow — this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us — that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion — that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain — that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

NewsReal Sunday: Embarrassed Christians Overreact to Koran Burning By Promoting Islam

Is this the Great Commission? I am on record for being against the Florida Koran burning.  I was one of the first people to ever write on the topic (which I did August 1st for another NewsReal Sunday blog ).  Countless major Christian organizations spoke against torching the Muslim holy book, including the two biggest in America – the Catholic Church and the Southern Baptist Convention.  But there is a big difference between arguing that burning Korans is not Christian and actually promoting Islam itself. Many Christians, predominantly of the Religious Left , have come out defending and even advocating the spread of Islam.  I guess the shame of someone claiming to be a pastor was too much for them to bear.  Somehow these Christian lightweights have decided Islamic evangelism was the right response. In Massachusetts the Massachusetts Bible Society declared they would hand out two Korans for every one burned by the Florida church.  Yes, that’s right.  An organization supposed committed to Christianity has now committed to spread Islam.  Of course the Huffington Post thought it was a beautiful story of Christian love.  The Huffpost heralded the press release of MassBible. “As people of the Book, we are joined to Islam and Judaism in a special way and as an organization that has sought to put that Book into people’s hands for 201 years, we cannot stand idly by while the sacred text of a sister religion is burned as our beloved Bibles once were.” – MassBible A church in downtown Charleston, SC gave a gift of a whole bunch of Korans to a mosque there in the city.  And on 9-11 a church in Raleigh, NC put together an interfaith gathering to read excerpts of the Koran in their church building.  Right in the heart of the Bible-belt we see active promoting of Islam by Christians.  Maybe they hope it will one day become the Koran-belt.  Somehow those Christians think giving out and reading another religions holy book is part of the Great Commission that Christ gave.  Not sure how you can make that argument theologically when you read Jesus’ words. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus commissioned his church and Christians to spread the gospel – Christ crucified and resurrected for our sins that we might have eternal life.  In the New Testament, when disciples would enter lands of other gods they never promoted those other gods.  The disciples always let the people know, in a loving way, that they were missing the truth of the one, true God.  To spread any other religion is to deny the Great Commission, the gospel, and Jesus Christ. No matter how ashamed you might be of so-called pastors like Terry Jones or others, the Christian response is never to be ashamed of the gospel itself.  Yet promoting Islam instead of the gospel shows nothing more than shame and self-loathing.  Christians should have the attitude of the Apostle Paul who wrote: I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. Where’s the Outrage?

The double standards and diabolic doublespeak are surreal, unbelievable. “Offended” (highly choreographed) Muslim mobs rioted after Muslim troublemakers slipped two offensive cartoons into the original, more benign Danish cartoon mix—but most of the Muslim world stands silently by as more radical elements in the faith engage in the gruesome honor murders of Muslim girls and women—by Muslims. The Muslim world stands silently by as Christians living in the  Middle East and south Asia are not allowed to build churches anywhere in the Muslim world. — In  Saudi Arabia , Christians can only pray quietly, inside their own homes; even then, they remain at risk. And yet, when Terry Jones, the minister of a fifty family church in Florida, promises to burn a Koran—all hell breaks loose among the easily “offended.” Muslims are “offended” when European government leaders propose to ban the burqa—to guarantee female citizens their universal human rights; but, many stand by silenty and fail to utter a peep when more radical Muslims throw acid on the faces of young Muslim girls in Pakistan and  Afghanistan whose veils are not up to par. What is wrong with this picture? Why are so many westerners fooled into believing that Islamic religious and gender apartheid is actually a religious practice as opposed to a highly barbaric form of totalitarian misogny?
