The National Republican Congressional Committee is set to launch a major television ad blitz in 11 Congressional districts next week in what will be the House GOP’s first multi-district independent expenditure drop of the 2010 cycle.

NRCC Expands Ad Reservations to $24 Million

The National Republican Congressional Committee on Tuesday added more than $2 million in television ad reservations in four Democratic-held districts that are increasingly viewed as vulnerable. The new targets are Pennsylvania Rep. Patrick Murphy, Oregon Rep. Kurt Schrader (above) and Arizona Reps. Ann Kirkpatrick and Harry Mitchell.

Colombia’s Displaced Population Triples Since 2002

Codhes, an independent human rights group, reported that 2.4 million Colombians were displaced between 2002-2009, bringing the national total to 4.9 million. While FARC and rival drug gang violence accounts for some of the displacement, some rural Colombians have been displaced due to thugs working for business interests looking to control large swaths of land and resources.
